Celebrating Success

Mia Roos, pictured above, looking very proud of her "outstanding achievement" in the Nature Speaks Writing Competition 2025, which was run by the Taranaki Literacy Association. Her effort won her 3rd place and a poppies voucher. Congratulations Mia!
Class Considerations
In the coming weeks we will begin planning classes for 2026. In making up classes a large number of variables are considered, including the students’ age, achievement and interests. We also consider the ethnic and gender make up of the classes and the social and academic needs of students in each class. If there is anything you would like us to consider when placing your child, please make an appointment to meet me before November 7th. This can be done by contacting the office. Please note that these meetings are not an opportunity to request a particular teacher.

Term 3 Attendance summary
Regular attendance is vital for every child’s learning and progress. In Term 3, only 47% of our students attended school regularly (90% or more of the time). While this is lower than last year’s 54%, we know that every day at school makes a difference.
Most absences during term 3 were due to illness, which made up 74% of all explained absences. Thank you to whānau who keep us informed when children are away. We continue to encourage families to plan holidays during term breaks and to support consistent attendance whenever possible.
Together, we can help all our tamariki build strong learning habits and reach their full potential through regular, engaged attendance.

Home and School
Thank you to the Home and School for a fun night at the Stumble Inn for our Bingo night. It was lovely to connect with our school community. We raised just over $700 for our projects. A shout out to the Stumble Inn for hosting us and their generosity, as the school gets all of the money spent on Bingo tickets. Also, a thank you to those who donated for the raffles and helped with organising this event. Congratulations to all our winners on the night. Thank you for your support! Our raffle winners were Claire Anderson and Fiona Smale. CONGRATULATIONS!
JOIN THE HOME AND SCHOOL TEAM: We are looking for people to join the Home and School team for 2026. Please email patriciag@welbourn.school.nz or talk to your child`s teacher to register your interest.
